Exterior Screen Fabric
Retractable exterior screens are necessary for houses and buildings with certain exposures, and certainly in certain environments where the sun streams through windows. It’s important to choose a screen with an effective fabric that can insulate your interior from letting in too much heat, as well as protecting your furnishings from the fading powers of the sun. Eclipse primarily sources its screen fabrics from one of two companies: Phifer Incorporated and Twitchell Corporation, both of whom offer versatile and durable exterior sun control fabrics made in the U.S. Phifer provides Eclipse with SunTex® 95 and SunTex® 90, while Twitchell provides TEXTILENE® 80, 90 and 95, and TEXTILENE® nano™ 95, 97 and 99. All screening fabrics are offered in a range of neutrals that go well with exterior colors for most homes and buildings.
SunTex® 80 and 90
SunTex® 80 and 90 fabrics are unique woven meshes that block between 80% and 90% of heat and glare from the sun. Made of a strong vinyl-coated polyester, these shades can protect your interior from fading in the sun. They also allow for saving on energy costs, keeping the sun’s heat and UV rays outside where they belong. SunTex® only needs occasional cleaning with mild soap and water, and is mildew, fade, and pet resistant. SunTex® 80 and 90 is GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD gold certified.
SunTex® 95 and 97
SunTex® 95 and 97 are both basketweave style, vinyl-coated polyester fabrics. With a 5% (95) and 3% (97) openness factor, these screens offer increased heat and glare control compared to SunTex® 80 and 90, blocking up to 97% of UV rays. They also allow for daytime privacy, for windows and patios that face the public. SunTex® only needs occasional cleaning with mild soap and water, and is mildew, fade, and pet resistant. SunTex® 95 and 97 is also GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD gold certified.
TEXTILENE® 80, 90 and 95
TEXTILENE® 80, 90, and 95 are all durable synthetic fabrics, made of PVC coated polyester. Designed to reduce heat and glare, these screens can help lower your overall energy cost and protect indoor furnishings. These fade-resistant fabrics block up to 80%, 90%, or 95% of the sun’s rays. They are available in a wide variety of colors designed to fit into any home or office. TEXTILENE® 80, 90, and 95 are GREENGUARD gold certified and REACH Compliant.
TEXTILENE® nano™ 95, 97 and 99
TEXTILENE® nano™ 95, 97, and 99 are lightweight but durable synthetic fabric. It is lighter and finer with the same technical qualities as the original TEXTILENE®. Blocking up to 95%, 97%, or 99% of the sun’s rays, these fade resistant fabrics are available in a wide variety of colors. Designed to reduce heat and glare, these screens can help lower your overall energy cost and protect furnishings. Nano™ 95, 97, and 99 are also GREENGUARD gold certified and REACH Compliant.
